Description of the Sí Virtual process, the Colombian State Portal

TP 3: For the alien wishing to enter the country to develop an academic program, with or without a scholarship, taught by a Colombian educational or training establishment properly certified for this purpose, or under an academic exchange agreement and student internship purposes. Likewise, when the alien wishes to enter the country to be trained in a craft or trade.

Requirements:

  • Attach a copy of the personal data page of your current passport where the holder’s personal information is registered.
  • Submit a passport or travel document issued by an Authority or State recognized by the Colombian Government, with a validity of one hundred eighty (180) days, in good condition, with at least two (2) blank pages. Without prejudice to the provisions of treaties and current international instruments, travel documents issued by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN), shall be valid and accepted by the Colombian State.
  • Copy of the passport page which was stamped during the last entry or departure of Colombia as appropriate.
  • For visas previously granted without Fast Reading Code (FRC), attach a copy of the page showing the last Colombian visa. If that visa was granted with FRC, this requirement is not necessary.
  • In the case of minors, bring the children's Birth Certificate along with a power of attorney of at least one of the parents or guardians sponsoring the student during his/her stay in the country, apostilled or legalized, as appropriate. In the absence of the parents, the signature of whoever has custody of the child.
  • Applicant or sponsor's letter along with the alien bank certification where it shows that the average of the last 6 months is greater than ten (10) monthly legal minimum wages.
  • Attach the documents listed in the first five points and copy of the certificate or registration of admission issued by the educational institution, or
  • In the case of exchange student, attach the documents listed in the first five items and the acceptance letter where the agreement between the sponsoring entity and the educational establishment is stated, or
  • In the case of student/intern, attach the documents listed in the first five items and the document where it is stated that within the curriculum the student will need work experience, internship or research as an academic requirement, or
  • Attach the documents listed in the first five points and in case of being enrolled in studies different than primary, secondary, technical, technological, or higher level either college undergraduate, graduate, master's, doctoral, diploma or college courses, you must provide the certification or document of the establishment where the [class hours] are at least ten (10) hours per week, or
  • In the case of scholarship students, Attach the documents listed in the first five items and the certification of the international organization, public or private entity granting the scholarship, and
  • In the case of minors, bring the parents or guardians sponsoring the student during his/her stay in the country power of attorney, apostilled or legalized, as appropriate. In the absence of parents, the signature of whoever has custody of the child.
  • Fill out the visa application electronically through the following link: Visa Application. In the case of artistic, sporting and cultural groups the visa application may be filled out by their representative. Be thorough with the information of each of the group members.

Remember:

  • For your visa to be stamped on your passport, you must submit it to the consulate where your application was completed or to the offices in Bogota. You can enter Colombia presenting the  electronic visa that you received in your email.

Note: If you submit your application on-site, you are not required to bring photographs with you. These will be taken at the dispatching office.

*Visas for nationals of the Republic of Ecuador will be exempted from charge; the fee for its study shall be thirty (30) American Dollars if it´s requested somewhere else in the world and for Europe or Cuba shall be twenty-three (23) euros.
* Visas for nationals of Japan and the Republic of Korea will be exempted from charge; the fee for its study shall be that corresponding to the class and category of the visa requested.

The receipt of the visa study is valid for thirty (30) calendar days, provided your application has been required. If your application has been declared 'non-admissible'  and you are interested in starting  a new application, you must make a new payment for visa study.

If your application is approved, remember that you have up to fifteen (15) calendar days to make payment of their visa with the same slip you received when paying for the visa study. After this period, the authorization will expire and you must start a new application. Once you have pay for the printing or stamping of the visa, you can to the Visa Office in Bogota if you are in Colombia.

  • You must make the payment in cash and in Colombian pesos at the Banco GNB Sudameris branch located in the visa office at Av. Cra 19 98-03 3rd in Bogota. Debit or credit cards will not be received.
  • Nationwide Servibanca ATMs Network.
  • Payment through PSE. For this you must have an enabled  bank account in Colombia with an online payment option.
