Mercosur: To the alien national of one of the Member States of Mercosur and Associates wishing to enter or has entered the national territory and seeks temporary residence under the Agreement on Residence for Nationals of the Member States of Mercosur, Bolivia and Chile.


Requirements:

  • Attach a copy of the personal data page of your current passport where the holder’s personal information is registered.
  • Submit a passport or travel document issued by an Authority or State recognized by the Colombian Government, with a validity of one hundred eighty (180) days, in good condition, with at least two (2) blank pages.
  • Without prejudice to the provisions of treaties and current international instruments, travel documents issued by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN), shall be valid and accepted by the Colombian State.
  • Copy of the passport page which was stamped during the last entry or exit of Colombia as appropriate.
  • For visas previously granted without Fast Reading Code (FRC), attach a copy of the page showing the last Colombian visa. If that visa was granted with FRC, this requirement is not necessary.
  • Attach the documents listed in the first five items and the criminal record certificate issued within three (3) months prior to the application of the visa by the competent authority of the country of origin or last place of residence where you have remained at least during three (3 ) years, duly apostilled or legalized and translated, as appropriate. Minors are exempt from this requirement.
  • For minors, Birth certificate duly apostilled or legalized and translated, as appropriate, accompanied by a permission to remain in Colombia, signed by at least one parent, apostille or legalized and translated, as appropriate. In the absence of a parent, you must provide permission granted by the competent family authority of the country of origin, duly apostilled or legalized and translated, as appropriate.

Aliens under seven (7) years of age will credit their status as resident with the visa label stamped on the passport or travel document, aliens over this age may do so by submitting alien identification or the visa label stamped on a valid passport.

Residence Visas RE that were processed for the first time after 24 July, 2013 and were authorized for a maximum period of five (5) years, will not lose validity. Its validity relies on the provisions of the current regulations.

For document authenticity purposes, when the visa application is presented before a Consular Office of the Republic, a certification in accordance with the procedures established in the country from which the document comes from will suffice.

When the application is made before the Internal Working Visas and Immigration Group, that authenticity may be certified by a consular officer of the petitioner's country of origin accredited in Colombia.

The receipt of the visa study is valid for thirty (30) calendar days, provided your application has been required. If your application has been declared 'non-admissible'  and you are interested in starting  a new application, you must make a new payment for visa study.

If your application is approved, remember that you have up to fifteen (15) calendar days to make the payment of their visa with the same slip you received when paying for the visa study. After this period, the authorization will expire and you must start a new application. Once you have pay for the printing or stamping of the visa, you can go to the Visa Office in Bogota if you are in Colombia.

You must make the payment in cash and in Colombian pesos at the Banco GNB Sudameris branch located in the visa office at Av. Cra 19 98-03 3rd floor in Bogota. Debit or credit cards will not be accepted.

  • Payment through PSE For this you must have an enabled bank account in Colombia with an online payment option.

The payment must be made the same day the receipt is generated. Failure to do so results in the need to request a new receipt (maximum 2 days after the initial request).
